Dressed in Code

Google’s Made With Code initiative was launched to help girls everywhere realize just how far a career in STEM can take them.

The Dressed in Code campaign was designed to show that the world of coding extends into unexpected paths that are truly creative.

Google developed a simple tool that allowed users to design a colorful, animated LED dress.

We partnered with fashion designer, Zack Posen to create the dress, and with technologist, Maddy Maxey to bring the actual LED designs from the Made With Code community to life on the garment itself.

At the culmination of the campaign, the dress made its debut on the runway during New York Fashion Week, at an event attended by girls from schools around the city.

A behind the scenes video showed the Made With Code community how their coded designs were implemented.

An emoji interview video brought Maddy and Zac’s personalities to life for the audience.

In the lead up to Fashion Week, social content teased Zac and Maddy’s involvement and encouraged the MWC community to participate in the design process.
